There is a breastfeeding documentary that is currently being done by Vera
Aranow. It's going to be on PBS and is entitled "What's a Mother to Do?"
Vera is still in the fundraising phase (the last I heard). If anyone wants
to contribute to this cause, make your check out to "Women Make Movies", a
tax-deductible 501 (C)3 charitable organization and mail to Vera Aronow, 8
Catherine St. Nyack, NY 10960. NOTE: in the "memo" section, write "Vera
Aronow" so it will be credited to her project.
This is a 1-hr documentary for public televasion trcing the evolution of
attitudes toward breastfeeding in the US during this century. This film will
combine interviews with mothers from diverse socio-economic backgrounds and
spanning several generations with thought-provoking analysis by distinguised
experts from several academic and social policy perspectives. Current
scientific research will be discussed. Historical materials, including
advertising images, news clips, promotional and educational films will also
help to evoke the changing experience of breastfeeding and motherhood.
Board of Advisors: ILCA, LLLI, UNICEF, Wellstart and the Institute for
Reproductive Health.
Vera was at ILCA this summer.
