Hi everybody,

I've been lurking for a couple of weeks. I've really enjoyed reading all the
informative posts. My name is Andrine Nichols and I'm a La Leche League
Leader in Hawaii, with a background in nursing (of the LPN type). My
question for anybody out there is what do you do for an engorged baby?? We
had a mother at our meeting today with a 3.5 week old boy (10 lbs at birth).
The little guy had about a 1-1.5 inch rock hard circle around each nipple
that stuck out from the chest wall about 1/2 an inch. The nipples looked
like dimples in the middle of the areola. The breast tissue was not red or
hot, nor did the baby have a fever. The breasts were tender and leaked what
looked like mature foremilk. Any body have any experience with this?? Any
suggestions for this mother??
TIA Andrine
