I agree with you we know the new born physiology is designed to sustain
infants for the first 48 hours. I think you are right and that some of the
interventions in labour and delivery may alter the neonatal physiology. But
what the mechanism is I do not know. I also think that those people without
breastfeeding knowledge who assess these infants misdiagnose, because at two
days of age they are probably only having 2-3 wet diapers they panic because
they use the bottle feeding model for a guide to output.
