Hello!  In light of the recent conversations about dolls with bottles, I
wanted to relay a recent conversation that I had with my 4 year old daughter.
 She was showing me a picture of a glass of milk and a picture of a bottle.
 She said "Look, Mommy, ( while holding the picture of the glass of milk)...
cow's milk!"  I asked her what was in the bottle.  She said "Mommy milk."  I
told her that mommy milk was better when it came from mommy's breast.  She
said "I know, Mommy, but it's just a toy baby and a  toy bottle, and the toy
can have a bottle."  I asked her what real babies should have.  She said
"They should have mommy milk from a breast."

What an enlightened little girl.  We had been struggling with the fact that
she liked to have toy bottles for her dolls, even though she never had a
bottle herself when she was a baby.  I was worried that our culture was
getting to her through advertisements, etc.

Now I realize that while you may not be able to change the world around you,
(i.e. the bottlefeeding culture), you can change how you look at it, and how
you interpret it.  (Just as Chelsea has done, with some help from her mom and
dad!)  Things are not always as they seem!
