Hi Everyone,
I have often wondered if the idea that weight loss is a normal
newborn phenomenon is related to the hospital model of birth and
infant care. My 2 babies who were born at home were never seperated
from me at all and started to gain weight right away not lose weight
as did my first 2 who were born in the hospital.
I have heard this from other others who birthed at home as well.
Perhaps as well the idea that the milk isn't supposed to "come in" until the
third day or so is a similar situation? I have heard of mothers who
gave birth at home whose milk "came in" is just over 24 hours.
Wouldn't it be nice if mothers weren't so overmedicated and if they
were never seperated from their babies and could breastfeed as much
as the baby wanted to right from the birth?
Susanna
