Just a note to add to Texan Julie Graves' comment "if Texas can pass a law
confirming a woman's right to breastfeed in public..." than anyone can.
Well, in UTAH, yes, Utah, home of Orrin Hatch (you remember the Anita Hill
hearings), we mananged to also pass a bill affirming that breastfeeding be
excluded from any lewdness laws this year. I don't believe a copy of the law
is on the internet. Actually, it was quite interesting, breastfeeding in
public was never against the law in Utah, it just could have been loosely
interpreted as a lewd act, so they asked that the lewdness law be ammended to
exclude public breastfeeding. Our La Leche league leaders have been careful
to point out that public breastfeeding was never illegal in Utah although
with the media attention the bill received many people were under that false
impression. Anyway, it was interesting to be even associated with the idea
of being LEWD! I do have a copy of the ammendment somewhere if anyone needs
it.
