Hello,
I have been reading the posts about the FTT babies and wondering if an
osteopath would help (as per Linda Smith's suggestion). I have personal
experience with an osteopath who has helped two of my children and a
friend's baby.

My second child was a fat baby, but I kept having plugged ducts on my left
breast and it was getting smaller in size the older he got. I saw a friend
who was a LC. She noticed that he laid flat--didn't curl his legs up (he was
2 months old at the time). She referred me to a PT and OT, who recommended
therapy, but I needed my peds to give me a prescription. He would not do
it--didn't feel that there was a problem.
Another friend recommended an osteopath who did the cranial-sacral therapy.
My husband and I were skeptical but willing to give him a try. It worked!! A
large birth mark (red, about 4 inches in diameter) on the back of his head
and neck disappeared within a few hours after the second visit. After a few
more visits he was curling up and playing with his toes like any other baby.

My friend's baby was diagnosed as FTT by her Dr. and LC. She was pumping,
finger feeding, and doing suck training, with no success. As long as she
supplemented, he had normal urine output and BMs. When she stopped
supplementing he stopped having BMs and wet diapers decreased dramatically.
She did this for almost 10 weeks. She felt that she had given conventional
therapy a chance and decided to give the osteopath a shot. Immediately after
the first visit she nursed her baby and noticed a significant increase in
the strength of his suck. Three days after the first visit she stopped
pumping and supplementing--the wet diapers and BMs didn't decrease. She
hasn't pumped or supplemented since.

Why or how this works I don't know, but I KNOW it works. When all else is
failing, give an osteopath(one trained in cranial-sacral therapy) a chance.
