Hello all!
On the heels of USA Today"s wonderful (NOT) piece claiming that the
nazi-57%-undefined-level-of-breastfeeding-majority is annoying the
poor-misunderstood-bottle-feeding-minority (more accurately they should
be called formula-feeding?) I thought everyone might be interested to see how
Pat Bull"s recent (12/5) BF Rates post reads when the figures are turned
around to reflect formula feeding rates.
1 week
formula 45.1%
formula only 32%
1 month
formula 45.5%
formula only 34%
3 months
formula 53.4%
formula only 40.8%
4 months
formula 80.2%
formula only 64%
6 months
formula 88.9%
formula only 74.4%
I recognize that solids may be introduced to some of these older babies
but I think it"s a fair assumption that at 6 mo. and younger they are
still getting formula. Also Pat later noted that these figures are for
the Chicago area--I"m still a little behind on my email--so I apologize
for not taking into account any national figures posted after Dec. 8.
Still the sad fact remains that the majority of babies in this nation are
drinking formula from bottles regardless of what Ms. Robin or USA Today or
or the other national media would like everyone to believe. Would that
they were correct in this matter!
Cheers!
