Hi All,
Just to let you know, I believe that AOL has recinded its blacklist of the
word Breast. It seems that people have already made a stink about it because
they couldn't access Medline trying to get info on Breast Cancer.
I believe that they had their hearts in the right place, trying to protect
people (children) from pornography, but this time I think it went too far.
It is a sad day when the proper term/name for a body part becomes a "Dirty"
word. The word Breast is, IMHO, a beautiful word. It is certainly prettier
than many other words for body parts. Plus it has many positive connotations
when used in poetry, and in Re; to BF.
I wonder what will be next. Will names, such as Richard (well, actually the
nickname for Richard) be banned simply because they happen to double as a
"dirty" word for a persons genitalia? Please folks. Let's get real! It is
pathetic, IMHO, to ban words just because they "MIGHT" have a "dirty"
conotation to them and someone might be offended.
I remember being called "Gay Jay" as a child, and knowing that my peers meant
"gay" in the derogatory sense, I refused to accept it as such and would
reply, "Yeah, I'm a real happy person!" Too bad that today, "Gay" means
homosexual, not happy. (Although I know many homosexuals who are happy! :)
)
Get with it society,
A word is a word is a word is a word....It's all in how it's used.
Jay
She who was brought to believe that words are harmless...It's how they are
used that can hurt.
