First off, does anyone know of a Lactation and Pharmacology course =
available in the US?(I wouldn't mind traveling but am unable to leave =
country this year)
A very basic question: If a drug has a Peak of 2-12 hours, how does one =
determine the course of action as far as delaying feeds, pumping and =
whether or not to discard the milk.
The situation I am dealing with is a mom/infant who are 8 weeks post =
birth.Mom has symptoms of past fibromalagia(this was her Md's =
diagnosis)and is asking about restarting her medication--elavil.The =
dosage is very small,in a one dose/day regimen: 25mg.
Baby sleeps 10 hours at night.
After the peak hour does the medication exit mom's plasma and milk as =
it's concentration lowers?
Truly in debt to those more experienced in the trenches.
Thanks,
Denise Ferrell,IBCLC,BSN
