Dear Lactnetters
I have a mother who is breastfeeding a 35 gestational week premie and her two
year old picked up head lice at the Day Care the week the mother delivered. The
mother has been using 2 products, Nix and Rid as a preventative measure so she
(mother) doesn' t get head lice. The mother wonders if she should pump and dump
this week. She said her Tx consists of a rinse with a 7 days wait period
between Tx.
I would think if she was just washing her hair and then using the rinse on her
hair it should be ok to breastfeed but I thought I'd toss it out to my
wonderful lactnetters What do you all think? the mother is also concerned about
the baby because the two year old also wants to be around the baby to love and
kiss and possibly shake headlice on the baby. Needless to say this mother is
distressed. The two year is being treated.
