Janet wrote a little blurb about bf in public and no food or drink in the
stores. In Houston Texas last year, or maybe 1993, a woman was asked to
leave the Museum of Natural History for breastfeeding her baby inside the
exhibits. They first told her to nurse in the bathroom, and when she
refused they made her leave. One of their excuses was to cite their policy
of "No eating or drinking in the museum." There was a nurse-in a few days
later, with lots of media coverage, and I think that helped spark the long
road to successful legislation allowing breastfeeding in public in Texas.
Hooray!!
Re the new Olympic Stadium, it would have been nicer if they had designed
some rooms like the ones in some of the nicer airports, or the super deluxe
ones at Disney World. They have a bathroom in the back, but the main
room/rooms are just nice sitting rooms, with couches and rockers and
Lazy-Y-Boys, and at Disney you can even buy diapers and baby food from the
person who manages it. I hope that the stadium also makes it clear that if
some women don't want to go in the bathroom, but just want to nurse their
children while watching the games, that they won't be kicked out.
I'm signing off now. See you all when you get back from ILCA.
