Hi all,

Does anyone KNOW the FACTS on a baby, born to an HIV negative mother who
later contracted HIV and then transmitted it through the breastmilk? I know
of the famous Eliz. Glasser case, but as I understand it, she was
hemorrhaging when she went to the hospital, and the possibility exists that
they started blood transfusions even before the C/Section was completed.
Now, I don't know this for sure, but I'd like more concrete info. The
tricky part to this of course is knowing for sure that a mom is HIV negative
prior to delivery, becoming HIV positive after delivery so the only possible
mode of transmission to the baby is through bm. Anyone have any ideas on
percentage of cases in which this has occurred?

Jan B - just curious in hot Chicago.
