Although K Dettwyler is comfortable with her posts going elsewhere, I would
like to caution people on LACTNET *not* to take cavalierly the notion that
others might take your posts and distriute them without asking. We have
numerous kinds of oposts on LACTNET. Some are funny (but only if you get
the joke), others are direct replies to earlier questions and would make
little sense (and be easily misunderstood) without the previous posts, and
still others may touch on sensitive areas (no pun intended).

Therefore, as co-mother of this list, I recommend *strongly* that each you
ASK before posting something you see on this list elsewhere. If you ask,
and the person says yes, you have permission. If you do not ask, and they
object, you may be in BIG trouble! Let's try to avoid such trouble by
being appropriately polite about the use(s) to which we put such important
and freely-shared information.

Although it sometimes seems as if LACTNET is a cozy family, it has grown to
more than 600 members! (whodathunkit?!) (and in less than the usual 9 mo
gestation!)
None of us knows all of us; so we need to avoid flaming and do not assume
that everything placed here will be happily given to anyone for
distribution on other lists.

Call me cautious, but let's go slow on this issue.

Def. of LC service: "We are all faced with a series of great opportunities
brilliantly disguised as impossible situations."
