Karen--
There was nothing wrong with what you posted--no harm in asking questions
and proposing changes--that doesn't make you the resident pain in the butt.
If the membership was ready for change, your suggestions would have fallen
on fertile ground. As it is, it seems most of us are very happy with the
status quo.

I really feel for you, working in the atmosphere you describe. It must be
pretty hard to hang on to your convictions some days and not just feel like
surrendering. I'm sure Lactnet must be like an oasis to you!

I'd be very carefuly about trying to "convert" anyone at work, just because
most people don't respond real well to proselytizing. Your gentle methods of
leaving information out for the staff, etc., even though it seems no one is
reading it, may make some converts some day. I also think that if you simply
posted some of the information and discussions you find on here, the people
at work would start to realize there are a lot more people out there who
believe as you do, When you're the sole breastfeeding advocate, the attitude
gets to be, "Here she goes again..." (I know, because I'm sure this is how
I'm viewed in my community, or was until recently when others have started
talking about"it" more). Printing some of the more informative messages from
here would educate in more ways than one. Obviously, these people aren't
ready for talk of toddler nursing and code words, but you don't need to
include that kind of information.

Good luck in your workplace--doesn't sound like a terribly hospitable place
for a breastfeeding advocate. I hope you have an ally or two, at least!
