Thank you, Pat B., for posting Ross' bf rates. Duration-wise,
they are MUCH beyond what is typical for Israel :-( . It's so
frustrating to know EXACTLY what is going wrong and not to be
able to make a serious impact to improve the situation. A mass
immigration of dedicated LCs would help (hint, hint). My heart
really breaks when I see women who come from traditionally-
breastfeeding cultures (Bedouin, Ethiopian immigrants) and want
to be "modern" and "give their babies the best", so they bottle-
feed Mater--, and these wee ones are the saddest-looking, sickest
miskenim ("poor little things"). Kathy Dettwyler - HELLLLP!
Israeli nurses and doctors seem to have thoroughly brainwashed
mothers to believe that there is no way that a baby can be
adequately nourished with only breastmilk - he MUST be given
formula supplementation. Ah well. Think about immigration,
everyone.....
Judy Knopf in Israel (yeah, come to think of it, this is supposed
to be "the land flowing with milk and honey" - not much of it
from human sources any more, I guess......)
