Penny: If one single issue of a journal is enough, then look at Seminars
in Perinatology, Vol 18, No. 6, Dec. 1994. It's entitled "Breastfeeding
in the Hospital", edited by Dr. Gartner, and chock full of information.
The titles include "Human Milk for the Hospitalized Preterm Infant,"
"Digestion in the Premature Infant: The Effects of Human Milk,"
Immunologic Protection of the Premature Newborn by Human Milk," "The
Question of the Relationship Between Breastfeeding and Jaundice in the
First 5 Days of Life," "Breastmilk, Breastfeeding, and Transmission of
Viruses to the Neonate," "Hospital Policies: Crucial to Breastfeeding
Success," "Lactation Management Education for Physicians," and "Three
Thousand Years of Medical Advice on Breastfeeding: Comparison of Chinese
and Western Texts." Hope this helps. Alicia. [log in to unmask]
