After looking at the photo in the "Bestfeeding...." book, I realized "I can do
that."  At the fabric store, I found t-shirt fabric, cotton knit that comes off
the bolt as an 18" wide tube.  In my area, it's sold at 19cents per inch, but I
found some on sale for 10cents per inch--so I bought a gross--well 3.5 yards
anyway.  I cut it into 7", 9", & 11" wide rings, then cut the rings to form 36"
strips.  Fold in half length-wise & sew with a very stretchy stitch (I use a
serger) down the length and across one end.  Turn it & press.  Then stitch the
last end closed.  I bound it with a piece of ribbon for appearance' sake--a
different color for each width.  Result:  5 bands each at 3", 4", & 5" wide by
36" long, that stretch out to 60+".  Mom drapes it under her breast, ties it
once behind her neck, adjusts to fit & ties the 2nd knot.  Voila!  Soft support
for a heavy breast.  Total time for me to make up 15 bands was 3 hours.  Cost
about $13. with the ribbon.  This is a task that could be given to older kids to
do--with the incentive of a commission on sales, perhaps?  For mom, choice of
which width depends on size, of course, & her preference of a flat, bunched or
folded band.
