I hope I'm not entering into this query too late and duplicating any
previous response, but a post from 8 Sept 1995 referred to a mother
concerned about her amenorrhea at 12 mo. postpartum. I wanted to throw
in that Sheila Kippley in _Bf and Natural Child Spacing_ found the
average return of periods to occur at 14.6 mo. w/ demand breastfeeding
and no supplements prior to 4-6 mo. Many mothers in her study
experienced amenorrhea to well over 24 mo. (in my own personal case, 27
mo.; many LLL acqaintances report 2 1/2-3 yrs). If this mom wants to
allay her concerns (and those of her medical caregivers), I suggest she
locate Kippley's book in her local library; if that's not available, the
_Breastfeeding Answer Book_ discusses the topic in brief on pp. 33-36.
