Hi,
This is my first day on Lactnet. It's gratifying to see the energy that's
being given to this. I'm considering becoming a lactation consultant or
doing what ever I can to promote bf.
As a former nursing mother, I'm interested in promoting
breastfeeding because it was so fulfilling and I feel the single most
dynamic element for a grounding entre into mothering. I see so many young
mothers not even consider it seriously and I'm very concerned because I see
it as a major foundation of learning to nurture. It's alarming to me to
see so many disregard, denigrate and not be informed of bf or realize the
importance of it to babies.
As a recent student of social policy I'm wondering what is
happening in the policy making arena to support bf and what do people feel
needs to be done. I look at breastfeeding as the foundation of holostic
nurturing.
Late on the scene but interested in comments.
