Does anyone have any information on the protective effects of prolonged
breastfeeding on allergy.
This family has a very severe atopic history and their 2nd child is still
breastfeeding at 2.5yrs. Mother wants to know if her breastmilk is still
protecting her child.
I have heard of one theory that it only protects while she is feeding and
stops at weaning.
Also that our own immune system is fully formed at 6 months, so prolonged
feeding doesn't help any more.
What do you all think?
Regards Jackie
