Is the problem so bad that the baby cannot suck on a finger? If not, I
would be sorely tempted to fingerfeed this youngster so that he gets a
little more reinforcement for bfg-type motions. The value of
fingerfeeding is that the person doing the feeding gets feedback on what
is going on in the mouth, and can also subtly encourage approximate
sucking motions of the tongue, which this baby may need as he gradually
regains its use for the first time.

Wow! Long bottle feeds!

I find it hard to believe that the baby caused this problem on *one side
only* with intrauterine sucking. I'm wondering more along the lines of
whether there is a blockage of circulation there, though I have no idea
as to what might cause it. And, if so, I would think that some intraoral
massage might benefit such a problem. I'm speculating out on a limb here,
you've got my curiosity up, too.
