Just wanted to share a quick story:
At my pediatricians office last week (my sons 12 mo check up) Dr. says, oh by
the way you can give him "real" milk now. I sat quietly for a minute, then
said. Real milk huh? As opposed to what?, he said oh, so you are already
giving him milk? (I know full well that he means cows milk), I say no, he
says Oh, so you are still giving him formula? My shocked reply was that I
was indeed not and was in fact breastfeeding. Boy did you ever see a Ped
back track so fast, he starts in about how of course BM is the best choice,
etc... I left his off the hook easily this time but next time I will launch
into my full speech. It upsets me when I know the Ped is giving out bad
info, and should be calling cows milk exactly what it is "Cows milk" not
"Real milk"
Question for everyone, does anyone know any statistics on breastfeeding and
Post Partum Depression vrs non-breastfeeding and PPD? I have a mom who
weaned her 9 mo old recently and is now suffering the symptoms of PPD and has
been put on Prozac. Thought it was another interesting benefit of BF.
TIA, Happy Holidays to all, thanks for all the information, I am in awe on a
daily basis.
