I agree with what's been said, just want to caution about eliminating cow
milk: be careful what gets substituted. I tried this with my son, and
ate more peanut butter, etc., than usual just to keep my calories up. I
still lost 5 lb during the 3-week trial, and he got worse: turns out
peanuts were the culprit!! We finally figured it out when he got hives
the first time he snitched a corner of a peanut butter sandwich.
Someone asked a few weeks ago if MD's charge each other for phone
consults. Generally not, but there is a general courtesy that one calls
for phone consultation from folks to whom one usually sends patients when
needed. Most University-based doctors will give phone consultations
within their state or area just to maintain good will for the University
even if they never personally get referrals from that individual. I
wouldn't be surprised, however, that as managed care gets more common
some specialists choose not to do free phone consults.
