Elaine:
After reading your question concerning a patient whose milk supply
dropped following Diflucan therapy, I reviewed everything I could find on
Diflucan. I couldn't find anything that would even remotely suggest that
it could produce a significant drop in breastmilk production. Not even any
side effects such as anticholinergic, antiestrogen, etc. that could produce
this response. '
I'm wondering, if it could be related to the fungal infection itself, and
not the drug.
The only suggestion I have... maybe get her doctor to administer several
days of Reglan(metoclopramide) to see if production can be restimulated.
If it works, taper off very, very slowly. Maybe some other LCs may have
better suggestions on re-establishing supply.
