Thanks to Cathy Liles for the post about rabies. Austin is the home of the
largest urban bat colony in the US (maybe the world) so I'm sure this info
will come in handy sooner or later. Cathy suggests I share my snakebite
exper. First, it wasn't me who got bit! A woman in north Texas was pushing
her baby in a stroller down a suburban sidewalk when she ran over a
copperhead. It bit her on the foot. I was APL of Tx for LLL so I got a call
asking whether the anti-venom was compatible with bfg. Naturally no one had
a clue. This story happened about 8 years ago, and I'm experiencing
mental-pause on the outcome. Cathy, I'm sure I left something in the notes
you inherited. What DID happen?? As we have lots of poisonous critters here
I'd be interested in a more learned opinion on anti-venom and snake-bites in
gen. Also brown recluse spider bites. I've had one of those calls too.
