Kathy,
Well, I wrote a very nice little note to Texas Monthly telling them I was
*disappointed* that they didn't ever mention what breasts were actually
designed for. I'm learning tact in my old age.
HEY!!! Yes, I'm shouting!!! My husband is reading today's newspaper
(Saturday morning) and he just said "Yo, Kathy, here's something about Penny
Van Esterik in the newspaper -- don't you know her!" It's an AP wire story
about the women's conference in Beijing, headlined "Women Soldier On Through
Rain and Mud." The relevant part reads:
"In another tent, the subject was "breastfeeding as a feminist issue."
Women said restrictive work arrangements, social stigma, and false
information are denying them a choice in how to feed their babies.
"People say political change empowers women....Well, we say breastfeeding
empowers women too," said Penny Van Esterik, a Canadian speaker."
YEAH!!! HURRAH!!!
