Word to the wise--er those of you (mostly) on AOL. I checked after several
of you indicated you were going through (unwillingly, it seems) LACTNET
withdrawal due to a reduction/elimination of messages.
He said, in part, "one of the systems changed was our "name server," the
machine that translates names like aol.com into machine addresses. The
change made *our* mail system *throw up on a few addresses...*
I guess those of you are aol were more likely to be thrown up! Having
never had that experience, I'm not quite sure what it islike, but I will
take your word for it that you were NOT amused! Anyway, the problem seems
to be fixed, so consider yourselves safe from that experience--at least for
now! :-)
Def. of LC service: "We are all faced with a series of great opportunities
brilliantly disguised as impossible situations."
