Dear Ann:  The real question here is: does this mom have to be on
floxin?  If her cultures grew out a bug which is only sensitive to floxin
(highly unlikely!), then she would have to pump and dump.  But most
likely the physician prescribing it just likes floxin and had not thought
of using an equally effective medication which is compatible with
breastfeeding.  I recommend finding out what the cultures showed and
