Update on this case:

The mother reported that blood in the baby's stools returned today, 24 hours
after she resumed breastfeeding.( No blood was observed after a few days on
Alimentum). All cultures/tests done by pedi GI were negative. Mother was
upset and tearful and I was perplexed about this all day until I read Barbara
Wilson-Clay's illuminating post. She could have been describing my case. I
had suggested to the mother yesterday when she resumed breastfeeding that she
keep the baby on the first breast for as long as possible . However her usual
copious supply is low after eight days of pumping and baby is impatient and
pulls off in frustration. She's needing to switch back and forth for the
time being to keep the baby calm. I will suggest one breast per feeding as
soon as her supply boosts and keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks all !
