To all US subscribers:

Senator Phil Gramm is attempting to have WIC block-granted. This could mean
the end of the Women's Infants & Children's food program, one of the most
successful federal programs in US history. It is crucial to the well-being of poor
pregnant women, their babies and children. It is also the only federal program
that contains any money targetted at encouraging women to breastfeed.
Please e-mail your Senators ASAP and tell them to vote against Senator Gramm's
amendment. Also call Senator Dole (who is running against Dole for the
Republican presidential nomination) and remind him that WIC works.

To find your senator's email address, look at the attached text file.
Unfortunately, not all senators have email. The rest you should just call via
the US Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 . Don't forget to include your
address in your email so they know you are a constituent.

Thanks,
Rachael Hamlet, bf advocate, extraordinaire
