Being a chronic yeast person myself for over 20 years, I sure hope gentian
violet is not carcinogenic--nothing surprises me any more though, even the
water I drink depending on if I drink from our facets at 6am or 6pm. I think
what is important here is that it is diluted down and only used for a short
duration. As Kay Hoover states in "The Link Between Infant Oral Thrush and
Nipple and Breast Pain in Lactation Women" tear off sheet, usage should be a
0.5 % or 1 % (which I would go with the 0.5%) used for three days of one to
two swabbings per day. Clinical from- Piatt JP, Bergeson PS: Gentian Violet
toxicity. Clinical Pediatrics. 756-57, December, 1992.
Pat Bull, RN, IBCLC--need to get off and get some other work done, this
stuff can become addicting!!!!!!!!!!
