I received a private email concerning my last posting and felt it
required a public apology to all wonderful RNs and BSNs out there who work
to further the cause of breastfeeding. I should have said that there is a
BIG problem at the facility where I work concerning the nurses at night who
do not comply with the formal breastfeeding policy. Only one has ever
attended an inservice (even when scheduled for change of shift times and
they are not supervised by the day time head nurse who usually is the one to
implement policy. I won't go into boring and aggravating stories here.
I do want to apologize for generalizing and being insensitive-I
usually am more careful about this stuff. I don't have the original posting
so I can't check and what I probably should have said was "our" night
nurses. I was trying not to be too longwinded an probably erred for the
sake of space.
So, for all you night or otherwise nurses out there, please accept
my heartfelt apology.
