Hi all.  I was talking on the phone yesterday to Marylynn Salmon, the author
of the article on breastfeeding in early modern U.S. and England, and she
said that earlier this week they had a "nurse-in" on the steps of the
courthouse in Northampton, Massachusetts to protest a woman being harassed
for breastfeeding.  The woman had been nursing her two-month-old in court
and an "officer of the court" told her she had to leave, that it was
inappropriate to nurse in court.  Marylynn said there was a big turnout of
women and babies for the protest.  Maybe now Massachusetts will join the
list of other states that protects mothers against this sort of thing.
