Hi Laurie,

You asked what others were doing about using the pump of mothers of infants
who had not nursed. Our policy is that a mother should begin double pumping
if baby has not nursed in 4 to 6 hours. We want to be sure that her body
know that there is a baby awaiting her milk. Any early milk expressed by
the pump is dropper (sterile, silicome eye droppers) or cup fed to infant.
This is the procedure for our full-term, healthy newborns who are not
attaching and feeding vigorously for whatever reason.

Hope this helps.
