There are so many interesting and rewarding conferences I have had to miss
during my child bearing years because of the clueless and unaccomidating
attitudes of the professional world. I find that women are the worst.
"we stayed home with our kids, why can't she". I know it has been my
choice to have five children, but I also feel I have much to offer
new mothers and I feel if I can help just one mom to nurture her baby
the way she was intended to instead of giving her a bottle, then it
will have been worth it. In my neck of the woods, there isn't anyone
else to help so you see if I don't go to conferences and get this info,
then the moms here go without.

When I bring my babies to conferences, and I have with permission done
this, I have always stepped out of the room when they have fussed. I
have only gone when they were "babes in arms". In Everett this past
year I was at a conference done by Kathleen A, and Jan R. with my 4 month
old baby along. The bathroom and hallways had the speakers voices
piped in and I didn't miss a thing. Seems like there are many
solution to disruptive babies besides depriving moms of these
conferences completely or worse yet, having to quit nursing altogether
in order to attend. Churches have had "cry rooms" for years.
In house day care, separate rooms with closed circuit tv, I'm
sure I could think of others.

Sorry, this is a BIG soap box with me. I am constantly being faced
with professional women on planes, at conferences, in hotels,
at restaurants that think that babies and small children should
stay at home til there grown up.
