AOLers, please take note of the following explanation sent by another one
of you who looked into WHY her account might  be "full" when it "appears"
that it is not.  THank you, Kathy Rubin for checking into this.


It seems that AOL users are big offenders of
not setting to NOMAIL when they go away because aol tells us that we have
lots of room in our mailboxes (mine "holds"550 messages--even lactnet doesn't
generate that many in a couple of days ...Yet!!). However, many people
probably don't realize that when they read then "delete" a message, it still
stays in their system for quite a while...if you logon and look under mail
for check mail you have read or mail you have sent, you will find a very long
list of items...my husband (the computer literate one in this house) says
that he thinks these account for space in your mailbox, too, so many people
have **much less** space than they think! I checked mine today and I have
over 250 msgs in mail I have read and "deleted" plus every letter I have
written since I signed on on 6/17!! Also, it seems that quite a few people
think (or *don't think*?)that they are replying privately when they check
their reply box to send a message, and it gets posted on the list because all
of their mail technically comes from and returns to the list unless they take
the time to change the address in the "to" box.This contributes to *a lot* of
short messages that seem to be answers to other people's msgs, rather than
meant for the whole list to read.  Maybe we all need to look into our info a
little more carefully and need a few lessons on "how to" write letters on a
list. Maybe people should set to receive "digest" also, as that takes us less
message units than all of the individual letters.
