My Dad also never did a thing with me except play, (that is after he stopped
being afraid of me!  He was afraid of babies!).  29 years later,
my husband comes along and does it all, except feeding!  He does feed the
solid foods, but that's it!  When Baby Ben destroyed my nipples to point that
I could not nurse him, I had to pump my milk and feed him with a bottle.  I
couldn't let my husband feed him because that was MY job. ( I was a little
goofy at that time, very distressed at the situation.)  Davidd did feed Ben
once or twice but that was all.  I believe that Dads do not  HAVE to FEED
baby in order to bond with baby.  David and baby Ben are extremely close!
 When Dad gets home from work, Mom doesn't exist any more! :)  Daddy does
diapers bath and bedtime and Mom gets a much needed break!  (Dad even makes
dinner!!  He's sooooo great!:} )
I agree with those who feel that Moms are being overwhelmed with "advice"
that says they HAVE to have  Dads feed baby in order for the bonding to
occur.  What a load of  "BLEEP".  From personal experience and neccessity, I
know what a hassle it is to 'pump and harvest', so to speak.  If moms need to
do it for medical reasons early on, that's one thing, but when they are told
they HAVE to or else....  AAARRRGGGHHH!!!
