Denise--
How long did you have your finger in baby's mouth? I remember one baby
who didn't overtly traumatize, but I just noticed that as I allowed him
to suck for awhile, my finger began to get an achy feeling.

One other thought: does the mom have a strong MER? If none of this fits,
you've got me puzzled, too. Palate absolutely average, not short, no
prominent ridges or walls? Does mom feel pain right away at L-O, or at
another particular time?

I don't know enough about lupus to know if the condition predisposes one
to trauma and bruising more easily. Sometimes you pick up things on the
second or third visit that don't stick out on the first. I'd redo the
assessments again if you can't pin it down, the culprit is there
somewhere. Good luck !
-Lisa
