Hi Judy and Yaffa
Here in Australia I also have a pump rental business (very unusual) and find
that my problems is that mothers get discharged using a pump for sore
nipples/other b/f problems to "give them a rest until they heal". I think
they are just "turfing" or passing the buck when the hospital is unable to
fix the problem and unable to recommend an LC (its seen as advertising and
unethical, however, just giving the baby the odd bottle isn't of course!)
or unwilling.
I also get mums wanting pumps for the above reasons and most of the time I
manage to persuade them to have a consultation instead, to fix the problem,
hopefully permanently. I am almost happy when I can do this.
Second ? when a mother hires a pump in the US for several months what does
she pay? and while we are on the subject of paying, How much does a mother
pay for a home consult from an LC?
Hope I am not prying too much :)
Jackie.
