There are no galactogogues(lactation stimulators) reported in the PDR and
I don't expect there ever will be any from American Drug manufacturers.
My article on Herbal Remedies appeared in "Mothering" No.48 Summer,1988.
The reference for Fenugreek came from an old Egyptian Medical Journal
which would not be accepted by standard U.S."authorities". Personally,
I have had a great deal of success advising the use of this herb.
Fenugreek is in artificial maple syrup, was the main ingreediant in
"Lydia Pinkham Vegetable Compound"which some of your mothers took
regularly years ago. Fenugreek is high in protein, lowers blood
sugar,lowers cholesterol,increases insulin, stimulates appetite
and makes a very good tea. A current reference of its use(in rats) is in
"Pharmacology,Biochemistry And Behavior",(1993 Jun) vol.45(2):369-74.
There is no mention of using it as a galactogogue.
