Hi all,
Had to put my two cents in on this one.
When my oldest son was an infant he spit up A LOT! I don't meam a little
here and there, I mean I changed shirts 4-8 times a day!
After almost 2 years of this, (he started losing weight, and quit wanting to
eat anything because when he did eat he'd throw it up) I finally changed Peds
(mine said it was his GAG reflex, right :/ ), he was diagnosed with Reflux.
We put him on Reglan, and he was fine.
Well, son #2 had the same prob. Spit up constantly. This time, however My
LC, Karen Evon, suggested a possible milk sensativity in baby. I quit ALL
milk products. Guess what? Spitting up stopped almost completely within 3
weeks. We had tried baby on Reglan, but it didn't seem to make a diff., so
stopped after 1 week. I quit all dairy when Baby Ben was 2 months old, and
only 2 weeks ago have I been able to start reintroducing dairy back into my
diet. Baby is now 10 1/2 months old. When I have too much dairy, he does
spit up a bit, but not like before! Had I been given this type of
information with son #1, I often wonder if we would have had the same results
as with #2? That would have been nice, because Son #1 has an eating problem
that has taken years to overcome. (he's 9 1/2 now) Oh, well, hindsight...
Anyway, I also believe that lactose is not the problem, it's the cow's milk
protien, and some babies are more sensative than others.
Take care all!
Janet
