I got chills when I read Cynthia's description of how this mother acted
around her baby - immediately my sister-in-law came to mind. X also
acted almost like she hated her baby. She told our mother-in-law that she
thought bfing "disgusting". Mom-in-law blew my mind when she phoned (from
Boston) with the news that at 3 weeks old, the baby was spending 4 days a
week with his grandparents and 3 days with his parents, on a permanent
basis! When at home, the door to his room was shut tight and mom kept
busy out of earshot. The rare times that we went back to the States to
visit, we were apalled that this kid was growing up in beautiful Boston,
but his parents NEVER EVER took him to the Children's Museum, the
Arboretum, the zoo, the Swan Boats, Faneuil Hall, NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING.
I'll bet orphans were less deprived than our nephew. A few years later,
I heard that X was caught out by the school social worker for physically
abusing her son and was threatened with the law, so she switched to
psychological abuse. My nephew is now 20, living with the 16 year old
mother of his 3 mo old child. This mom has stabbed our nephew in the
chest, and I'm not quite sure what else. (No, she doesn't bf!)
See why I got chills? And it's about 100 outside today......Judy Knopf
