Marilee,
Shooting pains in the breast are often a sign of systemic yeast.  This mom had
sore nipples, which may also have been yeast and with the antibiotic treatment
she's been on it is a strong possibility.  I've found that once it gets that
bad, systemically, a systemic med is usually indicated, i.e. diflucan.  Hope
this helps.
