   And then there are the more idiosyncratic groups, such as the Capital Croquet
Club (not to be confused with the Capital City club), which plays a particularly
virulent version of the "friendly" game variously nicknamed guerrilla,
all-terrain or tundra croquet,...

   Or the entirely reprehensible Lesser Washington Grove Lawn Croquet and Tennis
Club, which is still debating whether to apply for USCA recognition, since it
would then have to memorize the real rules and give up: (a) the under-2-year-old
free agent clause, allowing for the periodic intervention of extra balls; (b)
the 20-second cocktail-gulping allowance; (c) using the foot to hold down your
own ball when you croquet the enemy, which is not allowed in the real game; and
(d) the  breast-feeding  timeout, during which a second player may be designated
to take the feeder's turn.


We're getting into the mainstream, folks!
