I have a question regarding the use of Lidocaine. My reference (Chemical
Agents and Breastmilk) states the amount in milk and effect on infant are
insignificant but in the case of "excessive exposure" the infant "may be
assessed by measuring his serum lidocaine concentration". What is
considered excessive exposure? I am having an excisional breast biopsy on
Weds (9/13) and am nursing a 3 month old. I assume (correctly, I hope) that
my baby will receive more of the medication as it is being injected directly
into my breast than if it was another part of my body.
My surgeon also mentioned several other medications for pain relief. I have
found references for all of them except Verced/Midazloam. Anyone have info
on this?
Thanks!
