I'm really of two minds about this. Most conferences I go to either do
not allow babies or do not encourage babies to be present during
lectures. I do however, greatly admire LLL and think that at the very
least, they should support their own philosophy! HOWEVER, I was very,
very annoyed at an LLL conference a few years ago (in Israel): during the
plenary session, a physician was presenting an excellent and detailed
explanation of bf immunology, and in the middle of the lecture hall was
a very noisy toddler whose mother refused to take out of the lecture hall.
No one could hear the lecture. I thought that this was very unfair of the
mother, who stood on her "rights". The conference leaders were too
embarrassed to speak with her. I decided that unless I was reallllly
interested in the subject matter of a LLL conference, I would avoid them
in the future. Bottom line, I think that I was MOST disappointed in the
conference leaders who abrogated their responsibility to the majority
(not to mention to the lecturer who was really angry, judging by her
expression). Just my own experience. Judy Knopf
