re cereal...i do not believe that there exists ANY literature, other than tha
which has been handed down from generation to generation. to susbstantiate
the use of cereal and there is literature to document that it does not
help...i am sorry that i did not keep the references when i read them...many
years ago.. but with searching they can be found. the enzymes necessary to
digest startchs are not existanct in the salivary glands or the stomach of
infants until a minimum of 6 months of age ..as i recall...it makes sense
that babies are fussy on cereal...

   additionally bm can be aspirated without causing irritation. the same can
not be said for ANY other fluid...most recently heard this from a
neonatologist. but also known by anethesilogists...it is one of the questions
they ask when doing a work up on an infant before gi surgery...or at least
they did where my son was...
