I couldn't resist..... ; )

My husband is an amateur astronomer and shortly after earning my IBCLC initials,
we laughed about starting a joint consulting business, combining astronomy and
LCing, calling ourselves "The Milky Way"--our main clientele would be lactating
aliens, I suppose!

You know you are totally immersed in a profession when you see a term like "camp
nursing" and envision something other than what the author was probably
referring to!!! This kind of immersion rapidly disseminates to children of
LCs--2 stories:

A few years ago my daughter (then about 5, I think) asked me where my sister had
gone after spending much of a Saturday together. I told her she had gone with a
group from her church to sing at a nursing home. She looked at me oddly and
asked, "you mean she is going to sing to a bunch of babies?" When I explained
that it was a place for older people who need medical help, I got an even
stranger look!!! (I guess even though she lived the philosophy of long term
nursing, the thought of "nursing" older people was beyond her....)

Last week we were talking about a camp in Georgia called Hard Labor Creek. My
son (12) piped up and said, "I guess they have a lot of babies there!"

Enough "pun"ishment for one post!
