Hello, I have a question. I recently read an outline/handout from a talk
given by Dr. Jay Gordon at a LLL conference last May in my area (I wanted to
go but Hayden was just a couple of weeks old and I hadn't gotten the hang of
discreet nursing yet --plus I couldn't get comfortable w/o a mound of
pillows!) . Anyway, he was talking about how to reduce gas in a breastfed
baby, and he suggested limiting nursing to 5 minutes on the first side, then
unlimited second side. Has anyone else heard this? Agree? Disagree? I'm
wondering if it is true, what would be the reason it should work? I would
hesitate to recommend it especially for a newborn as I'd be afraid he would
get full before getting to the hindmilk on the second side. any thoughts?
Laura Taylor.
